When choosing your Office Safe you should consider the following:
The Location
Generally we recommend the location of the safe to be somewhere discreet but with ease of access; the safe should be used regularly, so it needs to be somewhere convenient. Under a desk, in the corner of a room away from any windows is Ideal. We would be happy to talk to you or call around and survey to advise on the best location. Contact Martin Crothers, phone 01 4567947 or visit one of our security superstores and talk to one of our expert staff who will be able to talk to you about your options
The Size
It needs to be big enough to take the items you want to put away, but small enough to fit somewhere convenient. Consider the use you intend to put it to. E.g. if you have petty cash boxes or ledgers, will they fit, do you intend to put your laptop in there? We carry a huge range of safes in our security superstores so we are sure to have something to match your requirements.
The Level and Type of Office Safes Protection
This relates to two issues: Security and Fire.
The level of security in a safe is usually graded by it’s “Cash Rating”. Basically this means that if, for instance your insurance policy covers you for €5000 cash, then, generally your insurance company will expect that to be kept in a safe that is rated for that amount.
In the case of jewellery or valuables the rule of thumb is usually 10 times the cash rating, e.g. €5,000 cash rating would be € 50,000 in valuables.
It may be an idea to talk to your insurance company about any requirements they might have before you purchase.
Fire Protection is usually graded at 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes and is differentiated between paper and computer media
Anything above 30 minutes is independently tested and certified.
Particularly when it comes to computer media protection it may be more economic to have a separate media safe and cash safe as combining both fire and security at this level can be very expensive.
